Commercial real estate brokers will typically work in commercial real estate firms, though often times, many of the larger firms will provide for both commercial and residential real estate services. However, the firms that specialize in commercial properties will provide their commercial real estate brokers to work with larger corporations and companies.

In such a case, commercial real estate brokers, aside from their abilities to sell and close, may also need to be knowledgeable in the realms of research and real estate analysis of the regional, and sometimes, national market.

Commercial real estate brokers will have varying experiences depending on the nature of their position and where and who they ultimately work for. Commercial real estate brokers can sometimes work a typical forty hour work week, though some may put in as much as seventy hours a week.

Commercial real estate brokers will have extremely good sales skills, but must also have good initiative and people skills in order to be successful in their careers. In order to become a commercial real estate broker, one must obtain the Certified Commercial Investment Member accreditation in order to practice in the field of commercial real estate.
